"Exercise--Labor Without Weariness"

Burning desire to be or to do something gives us staying power - a reason to get up every morning or to pick ourselves up and start over again!" Make that reason to get up exercise and utilize that burning desire !!!

Reasons to exercise in the morning

If I had to pick a single and actually simple to do factor that I thought was  important in a successful exercise or weight loss program for you all, it would be to exercise first thing in the morning... every morning!  Continue to exercise every morning and  when you put on your underwear  the fruit-of-the-loom guys won't be laughing at you anymore!

Some mornings, you may just be able to fit in a 10-minute walk, but it's important to try to do something... every morning...

So why in the morning?

Over 90 percent of people, who exercise consistently, do it in the morning. If you want to exercise consistently, odds are in your favor if you exercise first thing in the morning.

When you exercise early in the morning, it "jump starts" your metabolism and keeps it elevated for hours -- sometimes up to 24 hours! That means you're burning more calories all day long just because you exercised in the morning!

When you exercise in the morning you'll be energized for the day! Personally, I feel dramatically different on days when I have and haven't exercised in the morning.

Many people find that morning exercise "regulates" their appetite for the day. They aren't as hungry -- and they make better food choices. Several people have told me that it puts them in a "healthy mindset."

If you exercise at about the same time every morning -- and ideally wake-up at about the same time on a regular basis -- your body's endocrine system and circadian rhythms adjust to that. Physiologically, some wonderful things happen. A couple of hours before you wake up, your body begins to prepare for waking and exercise because it "knows" it's about to happen. Why? because it "knows" you do the same thing just about everyday just like your stomach knows when lunch time is about to happen. You benefit from your body knowing ahead of time for several reasons...

a) It's MUCH easier to wake-up. When you wake-up at different times everyday, it confuses your body and thus it's never really "prepared" to awaken.

b) Your metabolism and all the hormones involved in activity and exercise begin to elevate while you're sleeping. Thus, you feel more alert, energized, and ready to exercise when you do wake-up.

c) Hormones prepare your body for exercise by regulating blood pressure, heart rate, blood flow to muscles, etc.

For many people, that appointed time every morning becomes something they look forward to. It's time they've set aside to do something good for themselves... to take care of their body, mind, and psyche as well.  Many find that it's a great time to think clearly, pray, plan their day, or just relax mentally.

Research has demonstrated that exercise increases mental acuity... on average it lasts four to ten hours after exercise! No sense in wasting that while you're sleeping.

Exercising first thing in the morning is really the only way to assure that something else won't get in the way of your exercise time in your schedule. When your days get busy, exercise usually takes a back seat and you talk about doing it tomorrow!  Don't fall into that trap... !

If finding time to exercise is difficult, anyone can get up 30 to 60 minutes earlier to exercise (if it's a priority in your life). If necessary, you can go to sleep a little earlier. Also, research has demonstrated that people who exercise on a regular basis have a higher quality of sleep and thus require less sleep!  If you can only squeeze in 10 minutes in the morning and 10 afternoon and 10  at night, research has also shown that it can be as beneficial and sometimes more beneficial by breaking it up during the day… So don’t let a lack of time be an excuse to work out… This is your body and health we are talking about…

If a man achieves victory over his body, who in the world can exercise power over him? He who rules himself rules over the whole world.

You'll enjoy the rush and the power you will have!!!
I know I do !!!

He Who Has Health Has Hope !

He Who Has Health Has Hope !
He Who Has Hope Has Everything !

Dear Friends,

It is funny when you think that our reelected president's  health care plan has been written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it,  passed by Congress that has not read it, signed by our commander and chief  who smokes, funded by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's nearly broke. What could possibly go wrong?

When it gets right down to it, we all need to rely on ourselves and we all need to take the first second and every step after that to make sure our lives are moving in the direction we want them too...

This all begins with health...Without health life is not life; it is only a state of languor and suffering - an image of death.

It is sad to note that most people spend more time planning for a one week vacation than they do on their plan for their lifelong health...

The definition of health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity...

Is anyone in the world really healthy these days then?

Below is the cycle of how people have viewed that which is good for health...

2000 B.C.  Here, eat this root.

1000 B.C.  That root is heathen.  Here, say this prayer.

1850 A.D.  That prayer is superstition.  Here, drink this  potion.

1940 A.D.  That potion is snake oil.  Here, swallow this pill.

1985 A.D.  That pill is ineffective.  Here, take this antibiotic.

2000 A.D.  That antibiotic is artificial.  Here, eat this root.

You can see the cycle leads right back to where it started...

In other words... Getting back to the basics is the most important thing for your health of body and mind and social well-being which can lead to a life and a world absence of disease and infirmity...

We are in a good place when  we are happy, healthy, and prosperous beings; happiness, health, and prosperity are the result of a harmonious adjustments of the inner with the outer parts of ourselves and with our surroundings.

The new year is on its way...Let's find that inner/outer us and learn to love and work with our surroundings...

"Laughter is an instant vacation" Take many everyday!

New Year's Resolutions?

We all hear the word New Year’s Resolution but it may surprise you to find that only about 32% or Americans are likely to make New Year’s resolutions in 2012, down from last year… And more than 60% of those feel they will break their resolutions sometime during the year…

The end of the 2012 is quickly approaching…It's time to dust off the list of goals you made this year and see how many you were actually able to accomplish… Was it a good year?  Did you accomplish a lot of your goals? Not as many as you wanted?  Will you redo your goal list for next year to include the ones you didn't get done this year? Didn't make a list to begin with?

As it is written:
“If you don’t plan to succeed, you plan to fail.”
Make sure you "plan to succeed" in the new year!!!

Among the top resolutions are weight loss, exercise, stopping smoking, better money management and debt reduction and not necessarily in that order.

Regardless of whether or not you make a resolution for  the New Year, In the back of the minds of 75% of the US and probably most other countries is the pursuit of becoming healthier.

Therefore,  I’m sending this blog installment to you early so you can get a head start before the new year is upon us…

In this installment I will simply state reasons why weight lifting is vital and why weight lifting should be added to our weekly schedule for greater health...

Weight Lifting can… help with body fat, stress, heart disease, cancer, making you smarter and happier, building stronger muscles and less fatigue…

Weight lifting:

1.  Makes you feel HAPPIER! (less depression and anger)
2.    Builds muscles that burn calories 24/7
3.    Helps you to sleep better
4.    Helps make stronger bones and a younger body
5.    Helps the body to become more flexible
6.    Helps you to handle stress better
7.    Cancer and Diabetes and other sickness risk cut
8.    Makes your days more productive.
9.    In shape faster and stay in shape easier
10.  Adds healthy, active years to your life

These are just ten of the reasons to have a weight training program in your life…. There are many other benefits and reasons to be weight lifting…

In the next installation, I will lay out some simple and easy-to-do exercises that can help you to get in shape with or without weights…

“Our greatest happiness does not depend on the condition of life in which chance has placed us, but is always the result of a good conscience, good health, occupation, and freedom in all just pursuits.”
Thomas Jefferson
